Statement of Work

Art is a product of time. It is a result of social, political and religious context in which it is made. Because of its consequent nature, it has become the centre of focus of my artwork. Representation of female figure and portrayal of emotions has always been my concern. In majority of my work I try to interpret my deepest thoughts, hidden emotions and strong desires. The images I create are coined from personal experiences, fears and interests. Looking at personal objects from the intimate environment and interconnecting it with the people and life, I try to put together a puzzle.

I become the protagonist from the stories in my mind. Through my work, I seek to explore the edges of everyday living in a city. With representational forms and images, words, textures and colours, culled from an intimate complexities of life, I paint to investigate the rituals of living and life’s permeability. I try to transform the objects around me into a creative language and experiment with the possibilities to be obtained from an array of media.
